(Hattiesburg, MS) Lee-McNelis to become USM women's basketball coach
Memphis women's basketball coach and former University of Southern Mississippi basketball star Joye Lee-McNelis has been named the new women's head coach at her alma mater.
Lee-McNelis, who played for the Golden Eagles in the early 1980s and grew up 45 minutes from Hattiesburg, Miss., said she wants to be closer to her family. She was an assistant at Southern Miss from 1986-91.
Lee-McNelis led the Lady Tigers to six 20-win seasons, including a 21-10 mark last season and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
